I started paying attention to insects during a time when the world felt very far away. I felt like a cockroach myself. And I wished for a boot that would squash me. Focusing on small lives helped narrow things down to a manageable scale. These creatures are everywhere, countless yet overlooked.

They feel like aliens sharing the planet with us, running parallel civilizations just beneath our notice. Learning their names, their body parts, their habits felt grounding. We share with them more than I thought.
